The North American Pavillion

Frieze at No. 9 Cork Street, London

NOON Projects is thrilled to participate in The

North American Pavillion, an exhibition of 8 young

galleries hosted by Frieze at their No. 9

Cork Street space located in the heart of London.

The North American Pavillion is curated by Alex

Tieghi-Walker, the gallerist, curator, and founder

of the design platform TIWA Select. The

assemblage of 8 galleries from the United States,

Mexico, and Canada was selected for their

directive in straddling the space between art,

design, and craft.

NOON Projects’ presentation includes five artists

from its program: Ben Borden, Maddy Inez

Leeser, Matt Momchilov, William Moss, and

David Shull.

Matt Momchilov and William Moss’ works

illustrate fictional worlds, both from a science

fiction futurist perspective and those which

reimagine the past. Momchilov’s paintings

follow a tradition of historical portraiture, his

depicting fictional dandies and queer charmers.

Moss’ series of mugs illustrates a non-linear

narrative arc taking place partly in the Mojave

desert and partly in outer space and centered

around the quest for an illusive space lemon.

Maddy Inez Leeser and David Shull present

pieces inspired by California native and

invasive vegetation. Drawing inspiration from

mythology, generational magic, and herbal

practices, Leeser’s ceramics process trauma

through clay. Shull’s large-scale painting which

floats away from the wall on armature is

inspired by quilts and flags, and explores

contemporary life’s rub with timeless concerns

with being human.

Ben Borden presents a new series of paintings,

candelabras, and sconces created on glass by

a chemical reaction housed in bioplastic algae

in which the color and image will continue to

evolve and change forever.

The North American Pavillion will also illustrate

the ongoing growth of North American galleries

specializing in and showing collectible design,

with additional participation from Bruises Gallery,

Emma Scully Gallery, Jacqueline Sullivan Gallery,

MARTA, OF THE CLOTH, Studio IMA, and TIWA

Select.

Launched in 2021, No. 9 Cork Street is Frieze’s

first permanent exhibition space for international

galleries in the heart of historic Mayfair, London.

Housed across three floors, No. 9 hosts an

ambitious program of exhibitions and projects

organized by the world’s leading galleries

throughout the year.
